FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS PRESENTS PHENOMENA
Iconic Italian director Dario Argento delivered the goods yet again with 1985's Phenomena, which contains all the giallo style and dream-logic madness of his most famous works, but now fueled by a killer 80s soundtrack featuring Argento regulars Goblin, plus the likes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Iron Maiden - all backing one of Argento's most utterly bonkers storylines. Said story concerns a telepathic teen girl (played by a pre-Labyrinth Jennifer Connelly) who discovers she has the power to communicate with insects, and uses the insects to help a professor (Donald Pleasence) pursue a serial killer. The film was re-titled Creepers and cut down to 83 minutes for American audiences (sacrilegiously removing a Motorhead song from the soundtrack!!!). But we'll be screening the original European version.
Friday Night Frights is a year-round Los Angeles screening series, started in 2011, and dedicated to the idea that horror movies are always more fun with a crowd. They do shows in a variety of venues in LA, and are an annual contributor to Beyond Fest at The Egyptian Theater.
