Craig Rowin’s The Girls Are Calling Woo Hoo: Screening!
Intro by Henry Zebrowski (Last Podcast on the Left, Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell), followed by Q&A moderated by Starlee Kine (Search Party, This American Life, Mystery Show).
In December of 2017, Craig Rowin (Search Party, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later) heard the Christmas classic "Sleigh Ride" while eating breakfast. What happened next began an unprecedented feat in the history of human civilization. Craig filmed a 15 second clip of himself singing a misheard lyric from that very song. Instead of the lyrics, "The snow is falling and friends are calling 'Yoo hoo,'" Craig sang "The girls are calling, the girls are calling 'Woo hoo.'" He posted the video to his Instagram Story and, fifteen seconds later, the world changed.
Once the video was posted, Craig was faced with a difficult a decision: should he keep singing a misheard lyric for an entire year to an audience that neither demanded it or needed it? Or should he move on with his life? The answer was obvious.
Thus, Craig filmed a fifteen-second clip every day for a year, singing "The Girls are Calling Woo Hoo." But little did he know when he first sang this song that he would face lawsuits, kidnappings, reckonings of the soul, and cameos from such luminaries as the internet's Tay Zonday.
Now, Craig Rowin presents a one-time only screening of the entire saga. If none of what you just read makes any sense to you, congratulations! You've already taken the first step to becoming an official Girls Are Calling Woo Hoo-er — it will never make sense, and that’s all part of the experience. Come watch the show and enter the surreal, ever-changing, yet oddly consistent world of "Woo Hoo." All are welcome.
