Photo Recap: Mamma Mia — Pop Punk Edition

What happens when you take ABBA’s greatest hits, throw out the wedding-in-Greece storyline, and hand the script over to brilliant comedy writers? You get MAMMA MIA! BUT DIFFERENT—an all-new, completely reimagined jukebox musical featuring Broadway talent, original characters, and wildly inventive plots set to the same iconic ABBA soundtrack (plus some deep cuts).

This month’s installment, Love After Midnight: A Pop Punk Romantasy Clusterfuck, was written by Zach Reino and Jess McKenna (Off-Book Podcast) and powered by the full-throttle sounds of live pop punk band Jacob the Horse.

The stage lit up with unforgettable performances from Kimia Behpoornia, Gabe Gibbs, Angela Giarratana, Sydney Heller, Mary Lou, Julianne Lang, Dan Leahy, Chris Renfro, Rashawn Scott, Calvin Seabrooks, and Emily Skeggs. Under the direction of Patrick McDonald and musical direction by Angela Giarratana, the show mashed up rom-com chaos, fantasy worlds, and thrashing punk energy—proving once again that ABBA is the perfect soundtrack for literally anything.
