Welcome to 🐞JUNE BUGS 🐛at Dynasty Typewriter! A brand new month of shows and events featuring some our favorite specimens from the Hemiptera order in the Arthropoda phylum. Did this weekly newsletter from a famously air conditioned theater and popcorn restaurant 🍿🍽️ just turn into a full fledged flarpin' science class? 🔬 IT DID! Isn't that... interesting?! 🧐
Yes, we wanted to let you know that many people (including YOU!?) commonly refer to anything in the Insecta Class as a bug, but a "true bug" is a small creature that has mouth parts made for piercing or sucking. 🔥 (Ok Carl Linnaeus! 🫦) So we're talking cicadas, aphids, planthoppers, leafhoppers, assassin bugs, bed bugs, shield bugs, pondskaters, and water boatmen. Can't speak for everyone, but for some of us native Angelenos who didn't grow up with "watering holes" and "hollers," pondskaters and water boatmensound absolutely enchanting. Like imagine a little bug dressed as an Italian gondolier! Who said Mondays couldn't be fun?! Lesson adjourned. 📕And incidentally, school's out for summer! 🔔 (That's the school bell.)
