A very special evening where we opened up the entire theatre for a multi-room immersive party + entertainment experience to celebrate 2020.

What is Dynastyland? If you’ve been to Dynasty for a show, you’ve had the opportunity to enjoy great talent, our award-winning DynaPop, and some jazzy tunes in the lobby. But sometimes when we’re feeling saucy, we open the entire theater so that you can experience ALL our enchanting and hidden nooks. Our green room turns into the cutest show room you ever did see, our barkeep starts slingin’ the sauce, our stage transforms into a thrumming Dyscotheque, characters roam, magicians magic, treats and surprises abound, and, welp, there’s Dyngo and delights for dang near every type of personality! Bring your friends, bring a date, come solo and meet others, or come solo and STAY solo (have a love affair with YOU, honey!) Dynastyland is for everyone!

Wintry Darlings,  Seven flarpin' days 'til Hannukah! Nine days ’til flarpin' Christmas! ZERO DAYS 'til living your best and most authentic life and believing in whatever you choose to believe in! Ain’t that flarpin’ beautiful!? We hope you’re recovering from holiday parties in between holiday parties so you’re able to attend holiday parties before the holiday! Highlights included: another SOLD OUT Fast and the Furious musical parody! That crew has really cracked the (key)code on automotive musicals. Mazel to them! New years resolution starting early: We want to start “mazel”ing more generously! Cameron Esposito bringing people together for her show Separated, MAZEL! Zach Sherwin crossin’ it for the last time of 2019, MAZEL! Chuck Tingle selling his erotica and wearing a bag on his head all night, MAZEL! LANCE BASS bringing as many thrills and squeals as ever as a guest on Arden Myrin’s amazing and BONKERS ENERGIZED Will You Accept this Rose?, MAZEL! Buddy Wakefield’s sold out show for his book release that featured his amazing poetry + piano + saxophone, MAZEL! And if this week was a stoqing (stocking) we’d call the dorn thang STORF’D (stuffed) and be so thrilled at the contents we wouldn’t even need any more gifts! OOOH!  Let us do a #virtualunboxing of this #stoqingmetaphor!! We’ll write the words, YOU’ll use your IMAGINATION (the greatest gift Santa ever gave!) to insert yourself in the story and unbox the stoq with us!  The pre-dawn morn is chilly and bursting with anticipation. The air smells of woodfire, cinnamon, and hot chocolate. It’s just you, and you savor these moments of solitude with the same indulgent attention you give the last square of Lindt premium chocolate. You sit fireside in your flan-jams (flannel pajamas) clutching the heirloom stoqing you've had for your entire life. You know when you empty this stoqing you’ll see everything this week has to offer at Dynasty!   You reach your chilled hand into the velvety innards of the glorious oversized sock and feel an immediate warmth as your fingers curl around TONIGHT’S shows! You pull them out so you can get a look… there are TWO shows and they are both beautiful! O’! They shine with a brassy gleam! First up at 8pm it’s Two Old Queens Celebrating The Holidays! But don’t let the name fool you… it’s more than two queens! This show is a bustling queendom! Main Queens: DREW DROEGE and MITCH SILPA cordially invite you to their holiday gaythering, featuring scandalous tales of yesteryear, dead celebrity gossip and  too  much  punch. Other improvisors/partyguests include JILLIAN BELL! MICHAELA WATKINS! LUCAS HAZLETT! JONNIE  REINNHART! JAMES ADOMIAN! Oh my gorsh you are so lucky get to go to this show! Then at 10pm your stoqing has a beautifully wrapped show for you, it’s comedy, it’s pathos, it’s storytelling, it’s perfect for the holidays because it acknowledges that this time of year ain’t easy for everyone, it’s Happy Holidays, Our Parent(/s) Are Dead! True stories from comedians who’ve lost their parent/s. Happy Tuesday, Darlings! It’s me, Ol’ Newsie, here to brighten the day after Monday which should already be at least fairly bright because it’s not Monday anymore! I’ve never understood all the hate against Mondays, personally, but I’m always ready to hop on a rabid train headed into the gaping maw of hell with my fellow complainers! Annnnyyyywhooops, it’s Tuesday, life is good (and of course always complicated. But if you remember that even the complications help strengthen the fiber of your being, you can start to appreciate them with the same energy you appreciate the nice things! NEWSIE GETTIN' DEEP ON A TUESDAY!) and things at the Dynasty are heatin’ up! Literally, we’re in the midst of getting our heater fixed. A note to those interested in home/business repair, sometimes the first step of getting your heater fixed isn’t a panicked call to the heating company and demanding them to send a service person to climb on the roof to get to your inconveniently located unit to check it out. Sometimes you first have to find out if the gas is even turned on! In our case, it is not!) #heaterlife We’ve been making all sorts of end-of-year improvements around here to gear up for a huge 2020, from indoor-weather to indoor accoutrements and we can’t wait to share them all with you! After all, you’re the reason we’re upping the ante! Before we get into a list of improvements, let’s just chill out for a flarpin’ second and talk about last week. From improvised Broadway classics and stink-bombs (thank you Stephanie Courtney and Mitch Silpa) to a spinning wheel of Highland dance moves (Steph Tolev, it’s a shame this whole comedy thing is working out because the dance community is missing a STAR) to a doubly sold-out night of Michelle Buteau (“It was…. electric!” - Jamie Flam), to Topher Grace tophergracing our stage whilst wearing the Dynasty T-shirt he insisted on buying (True story! True gentleman! Taller than you might think! If you’re looking for a celebrity crush, we highly recommend!) it was a week of wonders and wow moments. And then there was our sweet baby, Go Day!  Saturday afternoon brought the baker’s dozen season finale of Go Day!, Dynasty’s monthly dose of enchantertainment featuring our favorite talent and most inspiring friends, hosted by Jamie and Vanessa and brought to life by the help of our tight-knit crew (Hey Dan on graphics! Hey Samee in the booth!) This was our favorite Go Day YET! We say that a lot and it’s always true which means… it’s evolving! This episode featured the sweet, sweet dance moves of the wonderful Atsuko Okatsuka, an always info-taining pep-speech from legit Emmy covered comedy writing pro Brent Forrester, our first Go Day! sound-bath/yoga moment brought to us by Rachel Brodeur and Rita Oliveira, which was so lovely that you can expect a lot more of those moments and those ladies!  And we ended the episode with a hard hitting interview with our new very dear friend Randy Feltface. You had to be there to fully appreciate it, but Jamie and Vanessa interviewing a purple puppet was a major step toward the future we’ve always wanted… and it felt so so so very good. Then, our very own Frank Cronin came on stage and told us about his next amazing adventure, a walk across his home country this holiday season, sleeping tentless under the stars in all types of conditions, making friends and raising money for the homeless. I'M not crying, YOU’RE crying!  We’re so proud of the lovely caliber of people who call Dynasty one of their homes. The next Go Day! is January 12th and we already have an amazing lineup including Felicia (Go)Day! Make your reservations now! Saturday night we freaked out with The Underculture, we’re so very grateful for James Adomian and his gift of making any version of the political apocalypse durnright flurpin’ harlarious. Sunday’s Let’s Go Atsuko went, as expected, PERFECTLY. Atsuko is a dream. A dream you can have too! Just show up to her show, ya animals!  Tonight we have a private event that we’d love to invite you to and tell you about, but hey, it’s a private event honey! We’ll tell you about it afterwards and you’ll be like, “Ding-dang I have so much flarkin’ GOMO™ [guarantee of missing out] right now!” and we’ll be  like, “We’re sorry you’re feeling GOMO™, we know that must be hard for you. Why not come on down to the Dynasty and watch a show to take your mind off of it?” Actually there is a show TOMORROW  that is public and perfect and you DON’T want to miss out on… the last Crossword Show of the year! Join comedian/rapper/crossworder/host ZACH SHERWIN as he invites a bevy og guests to have a crack at a word puzzle, crossword style! Guests include (but are not limited to!) ROB HAZE! IRENE TU! KRISTAL ADAMS! CAITLIN DURANTE and more! (We’ve said it before but it bears repeating: We love this show! It is expertly produced, original, funny, and generally amazing.) Make your THURSDAY a NERDSday, because the Comedy Film Nerds will be in the house and recording their 600th and FINAL podcast! CHRIS MANCINI and GRAHAM ELWOOD have been doing this for a decade, so it’s safe to say they’re pretty good at it! Join them as they host a banger of a finale with as many former guests of the show as they can handle. And! Tue Feb 11 | 8pm The Dollop w/Dave Anthony & Gareth Reynolds History buff and comedian Dave Anthony was considering starting a new podcast in 2014. His idea was to write up an unknown story from American history and read it to a different comedian each week. Having not heard of the story before, Dave hoped the comedian’s reaction would be hilarious. He gave it a go and his first guest was comedian Gareth Reynolds. They immediately clicked and fans flooded social media telling Dave to never change the co-host. And he didn’t. Sticking to the formula of Dave reading Gareth a story he has never heard, The Dollop quickly shot up the charts. Fans of both comedy and history were drawn to the wild stories and quick improv skills of Gareth. Dear sweet darlings,  We hope last week’s holiday brought you friends, family, food and napping opportunities BEYOND YOUR WILDEST NAP DREAMS! (What IS your wildest nap dream? Ours involves a contained fire at the center of a crystal cave, a floor covered in deep pillows and draped in realistic faux fur. The smells of savory food roasting and the sound of ice cream slowly churning in a nearby cavern. Large, scentless, wooly animals sleep around us, the heave and ho of their taut sleepy tummies inhale and exhale is absolutely ADORABLE to look at as we drift off. A beautiful blind harpist (because who wants to be watched when you’re napping!?) is in a far corner of the cave plucking low chords which echo endlessly through the underground. Really!) We had a blissful time off, and then a blissful time BACK with Saturday’s DYNASTY TONIGHT with a wonderful line-up of some of our very favorite folks including an incredibly in-the-moment Brett Gelman, the always on Debra DiGiovONni and Randy melt-your-face-from-smiling Feltface. AND Jamie and Vanessa kicked the whole night off with a TRUE STORY from the theater’s history about legendary a BellPop with dreams of dance, Skrembish O’Ceasar. THERE WAS (brace yourselves) PARANORMAL TAPPING ACTIVITY. And, unless you were there, you missed it. Sure, that last sentence seems obvious but we’re really trying to drive home the feeling and reminder that events that happen within the Dynasty walls are magical and fleeting and special! Come, be in the room with us!  THIS WEEK! Last night was the FINAL Harmontown. Between the tears and cold-season, there wasn’t a dry-eye in the house. We had a streaming party and afterparty at neighboring La Fonda and it hurts to say goodbye, but in the classic duality of life, it’s also FUN to say goodbye because it’s a party? TONIGHT we’re SO excited to welcome two legendary (BUT STILL YOUNG ok?!) improvisors STEPHANIE COURTNEY (Flo rom Progressive! Beloved Groundling!) and MITCH SILPA (He’s in so many things you love, his David Blaine is better than David Blaine, and he’s also a beloved Groundling) are coming together for Broadway Babies: Our Final Act! They’ll be playing two elderly actors who have performed together for years in different Broadway shows. Come and be DE-flarpin’-lighted.  WEDNESDAY, Dynasty fav STEPH TOLEV is debuting her one woman show I’ve Always Been Fucked and we cannot waiiiit. Old home videos? Characters? Stories? Steph!? It’s got them ALL! Plus she’s an EXOTIC CANADIAN (Awwooooga!) Then at 10pm it’s your favorite late-night morning show for queer creatures of the night, Good Morning, I Just Woke Up! Your host ANITA TENSION will be interviewing and entertaining, with a line-up including Dragula winner BIQTCH PUDDIN’, BARBAFELLA, JIAVANI LINAYAO and more. Darlings,  Get your hands out of the durn turkey for a minute and settle in for a brief holiday breath with your friend Ol’ Newsie (that’s me! I’m a newsletter and the name my parents gave me AT BIRTH was Ol’ Newsie, which is weird because at birth I wasn’t “Ol’”, but my parents are wise and knew at some point I would be. Giving people aspirational names to grow into rather than cute, dismissive names you can grow out of is one of my parents’ GREATEST strengths. Sorry to keep bragging about my parents! I just love ‘em! The holidays make me so dang grateful!!!! What’s black and white and read and red? ME! Because you’re reading me AND I’m blushing    !) We hope you had a relaxing weekend and are ready for that weird kind of pseudo relaxing that happens at Thanksgiving. Eating and the just-after eating are relaxing, but there’s so much cookin' and shopping and planning before and then so many dishes afterwards. Everyone, HELP WITH THE DISHES. Don’t leave that for older generations or female gendered folks. If you ATE you need to HELP.  I’m a sassy Newsie! 🤷‍♀️   As we have become gleefully accustomed, we had a great week at the theater! Highlights included: The Mermaid Palace podcast network launch in which nautical babes of all gender identities flipped their tales in celebration, a hilarious edition of Super Boss, an Everything’s Great in which everything was BONKERS and great. (Natalie Palamides new character would make her character Nate blush. AND THAT’S SAYING SOMETHING INSANE.)  A hell on wheels (and off the road) clip show from Friday Night Frights. A Dynasty Tonight with a great group of folks, including a particularly sparky performance of house fave Wayne Federman, and magically magical magic from Taylor Hughes. The return of our puzzle table, and a swan puzzy who is currently in her ugly duckling phase but is sure to shine like the swan queen she is soon. And then… Randy. Flarpin’. Feltface.  We fell HARD for this soft felt friend. If  you only know him from his appearances on Bring The Funny, know this - YOU’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN. Randy’s two (SOLD OUT) shows were amazing pieces of art, comedy, humanity, and philosophy that we (really and actually) feel made us better people. See and support Randy whenever possible! And we’ve got one such possibility for you coming soon!  We’ll be taking this week off until SATURDAY when we’ll be coming back with a vengeance, baby!  We’ve got a Dynasty Tonight with an amazing lineup INCLUDING our aforementioned puppet crush, RANDY FELTFACE. This has to be one of our favorite lineups ever. Y'a’ll ready for this? (duh,nuh,nuh!) DEBRA DIGIOVANNI! Sweet lil’ turkey darlings,  We hope this correspondence finds you well as flark! We’re all doin’ dandy over here at Dynasty HQ, just clackin' away on our typewriters from 9-5 then moving into #SHOWMODE every damn night. Did you know that the average Dynasty employee spends 40-168 hours A WEEK on a typewriter? Truly grueling work, but we have to do it because our name. OUR NAME! (We thank our mutually agreed upon higher power DAILY that we didn't go with Dynasty Bricklayer.) Finger cramps and callouses aside, we’ve been enjoying every nook of November. Why, just this past week we delighted in music from Carissa’s Wierd (five popcorn rating), word puzzlin’ from The Crossword Show (five popcorns), Cheryl Strayed (five popcorns), Aisha Alfa and Bill Burr (five popcorns), Amanda Seales followed by Wild Horses feat. Mark Duplass (a combined 10 popcorns) and then Shelby Lorman's book release and the Big Lez screening on Sunday (another combined 10 popcorns!) The weekend ALONE came in at a really stellar 30 popcorn rating- additional popcorns were added to celebrate the 20 accumulated Sat/Sun popcorns. Our popcorn rating system is unwieldy but also perfect. We’d rate our popcorn rating system 5 popcorns. AND WE JUST DID. Now place your bets and fire up your popcorn-o-meters as we look into the week ahead! TONIGHT it’s house and fan favorite Team Coco’s Up & Up with MOSES STORM! In addition to the Marvelous Mr. Moses the lineup is: TODD GLASS! JENNY ZIGRINO! IAN EDWARDS! MAX SILVESTRI! and SOLOMON GEORGIO! If that crew doesn’t lift your mood up and up, get a new mood, baby! WEDNESDAY Dynasty is going to host the launch of a new podcast network, Mermaid Palace! If you like audio experiences, mermaids, and/or queer culture, flip your fins over here. THURSDAY whether you’re a book babe/boi/human or a screen queen/king/royalty, we’ve got something for you! At 7pm we’re excited to work with PEN and Skylight Books to present CARMEN MARIA MACHADO in a conversation about her memoir, In The Dreamhouse. Then at 10pm it’s another gift from the TEAM COCO team, SuperBoss. SuperBoss is an interactive  comedy show and epic videogame battle ALL IN ONE. It’s the only battle we’re currently endorsing at the theater. Certainly a meaningful distinction! (Note: Red Vines v. Twizzler battle rages on, unendorsed.) Come see AARON BLEYAERT school JAY LARSON. Or vice-versa? We don’t know because we haven’t seen the show yet and we’re sadly not full blown psychics, though we DO suspect we have a bit of a psychic gift that we haven’t yet put our full power into. (Let us know if you have the innate ability to sense others innate abilities, we'd like to talk.) FRIDAY it’s the show that’ll have you saying “everything’s great!”, Everything’s Great! Join your flarpin’ adorable hosts NICK KOCHER, ADDIE WEYRICH and NICK ADEJUYIGBE as they disarm and charm the heck out of you and their lineup: IRENE TU, SASHEER ZAMATA, SARAH SQUIRM, and NATALIE PALAMIDES. The purple-faced Aussie puppet that wowed the folks on Bring The Funny is making his LA debut! Hello sweet sweet darlings,  Don't you love those November moments where there’s ALMOST a slight chill in the air? But then the next day the temps are up, the state is on fire, and it’s back to rollerblading with your bros on the boardwalk! Throw in some EPIC Pink’s chili dogs, an Angelyne sighting, and a road trip to Palm Springs, and you’ve got yourself a classic flarkin' LA fall, bebes! The past week was splendid, from benefits to tapings, earnest and amazing poetry/dance to bonkers and delightful musical parodies of unexpected films, we really feel like we never have to leave the comfort of the Dynasty’s gently reclining seats to see something wonderful. AND SO WE DON’T LEAVE. Our skin is starting to adhere itself to the red pleather upholstery and we’re totally fine with it.  This week we’ll have no reason to move a muscle (but we’ll have our BellPops tend to our every need. Did you know we call our DynaDarling employees BellPops? Now you do!) because once again, we’ve got it alllll honey! On Nov 2nd it was Jamie’s birthday AND our best GoDay! yet! (We’ve decided GoDay! has an exclamation point in her name for #branding and #marketing purposes, but when used within a sentence it provides issues for #grammar purposes. Such is life! We’ll attend more #marketingseminars and figure this whole thing out in our #sparetime.) So, back to GoDay!: Double Scorpio Edition. We had the extreme pleasure of having FRED ARMISEN on the lineup and he exceeded our (unfairly high) expectations. We had a great interview about his creative process, and then he treated us to an anti-meditation on guitar and a bit of HAYDN on the piano. Atsuko got the whole crowd dancing and Jamie and Vanessa were discovered by scouts for America’s Next Sexiest Dancers but we turned them down because we got a flarkin' theater to run. Laura House reminded us that just by reconnecting with our breath we can go on a little vacation right inside our own body at any time. Barry and Jason turned audience suggestions into games and reminded us how much joy quickly committing to an idea and diving in brings. And of course there were cakes covered in scorpions. Sweet November Darlings! Can you feel that November magic!? WE CAN AND WE LOVE IT. We’re still riding high from October’s finale (we won’t mention The New York Times article again, oops except for that time !) and can’t wait to harness all our happy energy into this magical month. Last week October went out with a “wheeee” with our final Halloween event, a cozy screening of Young Frankenstein. Then, in comes Novembie, flipping her hair and making us all go awwwooooga! October, we’ll never forget you… but we gotta spend some time with this other month now. Friday we loved the Asian American Film Thing (turns out, the “thing” was a show! And it was great!) and then on Saturday it was Jamie’s birthday AND our best GoDay! yet! Just know it was very cool.  Sunday we had Angela Yee’s Lip Service: Live and it was a stage-full of goodness including Gilbert "The Hibachi" Arenas and Damon Dash whose names we are naming because it was a public event. (More classy etiquette coming up in a sec.) Harmontown was Monday, and they Harmoned to a sold-out house! Actually, ALL of the remaining Harmontown shows are SOLD OUT. If you really really really want tickets, here is some advice in our new E-mail advice section "E-Mail E-Tiquette for E-Veryone" from our E-Published E-Book by the same name: 1.) Don’t send angry and entitled emails! Dynasty never lies about being sold out and an acerbic tone doesn’t help your case. In general, don’t send angry emails to people you’re hoping will help you because people on the other end of your communications have feelings too and if you want a human connection (or if you really want to manipulate someone!) kindness is a much better tactic. Angry emails may fly at Jersey Mike's or Burlington Coat Factory, but at Dynasty we respond to sweetness (and low stakes bribery). So, attend and support a great cause AND reap the personal benefits of laughter and a night out for yourself too. Multi-tasking.  WEDNESDAY we welcome poet, filmmaker and speaker MAX STOSSEL for his one man show, Words That Move  He’s going to be tackling topics like heartbreak, consciousness, the emotional state of the world and, of course, how dogs talk through rhythm and rhyme. THURSDAY  it’s our favorite twinset that isn’t The Olsens, it’s THE SKLAR BROTHERS! They’re coming Dynasty's way for their show Tag It! This show gives audiences a peek at the kind of riff sessions that happen in comedy club green rooms all over the world: Comedians perform their sets and then RANDY and JASON come out and pitch tags for the jokes in realtime. We have a few stale (BUT SOLID) knock-knock jokes we need to run past them for a punch-up, we’ll let you know the results. FRIDAY grab your friends…no, grab your FAMILY and come see our favorite big budget action-movie turned regular budget (but priceless!) musical, The Fast and The Furious: A Musical Parody! Cars haven’t made you feel this many feelings since Disney-Pixar’s CARS, but those cars don’t sing! So suck on that, Disney-Pixar! (They seem like a good company to pick a fight with! JK. Photo Recap: Dynastyland Halloween

Our first annual DynastyLand Halloween party was one for the BOOKS folks! Truly the most epic and wonderful and wild night the theater’s seen, and she’s seen some nights honey! The stage turned into a dance floor (and the dance floor was a show in itself), the greenroom had intimate shows going all night, free (AMAZING) VanLeeuwen ice cream flowed, tarot cards were read, a costume contest was had (all hail the fly!) and the saw kept sawin’. At midnight, Jamie and Vanessa reached peak happiness/surrealness (let’s pretend that’s a word) as they sat on stage, in the middle of a circle of bones with candles lit and held a seance for a packed house. The ghosts let it be known that they won’t be leaving the theater anytime soon… because they love it so dang much. Then they led a conga line! Awww, ghosties, we love ya, ya flarpin’ haunts
