It's... National Typewriter Day! 🥳
Regardless of what you may be struggling with, existential or otherwise, we can all find solace in this special day that celebrates Christopher Latham Sholes 1868 invention that revolutionized communication. Good ol' "CLS" was just trying to make it easier to add page numbers to books when he thought to himself "what if we could, like, also add letters?! To the whole flarpin' page?!" Next thing you know he was inventing the now infamous QWERTY keyboard and soon after that he was walking over to the Milwaukee Patent Office (MPO) to register his new typing machine. And guess what? The fine folks at the MPO were like "Wow, CLS, we're gonna patent the flarp out of this!" And CLS was like "Thanks MPO!" and he winked because he knew that buttering the MPO team by occasionally dropping by with cupcakes and bagels 🥯 🧁 was paying off. Not that they wouldn't have approved it anyway. The typewriter was a great invention, after all, that as previously mentioned revolutionized communication. Just to say that the cupcakes and bagels 🥯 🧁 were a nice gesture that at the very least expedited a patenting process that we can only imagine was far more arduous at the time. I mean, think about it.
Did you think about it? The arduous process of patenting an idea in 1868? Good. That is our gift to you. And that's what we call The Dynasty Difference!™
Anyway, the typewriter quickly became a SMASH HIT, soon after that The Dynasty family introduced their beautiful typewriter models to the world, we now we have a venue in Los Angeles steeped in typewriter lore that hosts improvised cooking shows and high stakes Jenga competitions, and the rest is herstory.

Degrassi: The Musical is equal parts nostalgic love letter and parody of the much-beloved and long-running TV show, featuring original characters, plot and musical numbers.
Set in the world of the hit Canadian teen drama, Degrassi: The Musical follows GEMMA, a new student at DEGRASSI HIGH. When GEMMA FINALLY becomes a niner and starts the new school year, she quickly finds out DEGRASSI HIGH isn’t everything she thought it’d be. Amid cheerleaders web-camming to raise money for their uniforms, drug-addicted hockey stars, lessons about puberty given in song format, and a massive boiler room explosion that puts the school’s dance in jeopardy, the naive and hopeful GEMMA becomes less and less sure she can be a part of the world of DEGRASSI. But with her jock older brother and a really hot (but poor) hearse-driving bad boy named ACE by her side, GEMMA navigates the hurdles of this super-typical, not-dramatic-at-all Canadian high school, and finds her own way to fit in—whatever it takes.

10:30PM: Lovers Know Best
Lovers Know Best, the live game show for couples, is making its Los Angeles debut at Dynasty Typewriter after a run of successful shows in New York City and Northern California. Lovers Know Best playfully tests the connection of three couples for the chance to win prizes.
This uncommon “reality comedy” show is the creation of host and veteran performer SEAN PERLMUTTER. PERLMUTTER is excited to introduce the show to Los Angeles, where he was an actor/screenwriter previously. “Relationships can be weird, outrageous, and hilarious,” said PERLMUTTER, “Not unlike this city, which deserves to celebrate love and laughter.”
Lovers Know Best features three real romantic partners competing in a variety of lighthearted challenges. Fun, interactive, and a little provocative, it is affirming for the contestants and audience. (Interested LA contestants can apply at Want to Play? — Lovers Know Best.)
PERLMUTTER was inspired by The Newlywed Game but wanted something original and on stage. “There are other live shows based on dating but none for couples,” he said. “I’ve been married for over 25 years so I relate to that experience far better. And we need the smiles that come with seeing how couples connect.”
“The couples compete but, more importantly, they’re having a blast with their partner,” SEAN said. “And the audience gets treated to some intrigue and laugh-out-loud surprises. A win from all sides.”
SEAN has been an actor on stage and screen. He hosted the internet talk radio show, Unlimited Thinking, and has performed sketch and improv comedy. Featured co-host JULIANE HAGN is a longtime performer and graduate of Second City Improv.
