Netflix is a Joke Fest Week! It's MayHEM! 🧵🪡
Dynasty Darlings,
Welcome to 🧵MayHEM!🪡 at Dynasty Typewriter! 🧵MayHEM!🪡 is our unique, playful take on the name of the month of May. What can we say, we're obsessed with whimsy! Here are some Fascinating Factz™ about May and MAYhem:
The month of May on our prized Gregorian calendar is named after the Roman goddess Maia. Maia embodied spring, fertility, and the growth of plants. 🌱 We love those things!
The word mayhem is defined by the great and historicMerriam & Webster as "needless or willful damage or violence." Nice work M&W!
Mayhem is also the name of a pioneering Norwegian black metalband formed in Oslo in 1984, known for its extreme musical style and controversial history. You'll have to do your own recon on what made them extreme and controversial, but let's just say that based on the above definition of the word mayhem, they sure lived up to their name! Our favorite Mayhem members you are no doubt wondering? It's an obvious toss up between Jørn "Necrobutcher" Stubberud, and Jan Axel "Hellhammer" Blomberg. Keep rockin' boyz! 🎸
🧵MayHEM!🪡 at Dynasty is more about the wordplay with the word hem. Thegreat and historicWordReference.com defines a hem as “an edge made by folding back the margin of cloth and sewing it down.” That is illustrated on the design you see above with needle and thread and a sewn-in aesthetic. Plus we have the tagline "This month will have you in stitches" because sewing stitches and laughing stitches. 😹 The month is brought to you by The Storytailors, a lineage of characters in our world who have stitched together stories of all the great Dynasty lore for centuries. Though you are probably most familiar with the public access iterations of The Storytailors show from the early 1980's. Are you whimisified or what?!
🧵MayHEM!🪡 at Dynasty begins tonight with a full week of hosting events for the NETFLIX IS A JOKE FEST! We're excited to host a mix of new shows and Dynasty classics to our stage as part of the gigantic Los Angeles festival. There are still a few tickets available to some of the shows, so get 'em while you can and we'll see you soon!
It was a powerful Scorpio Full Moon 🦂🌕🦂 this weekend and we're all finally stepping into our full power so that's excting,
VanJam
