See our full calendar here →  Dynasty Darlings, Let's GET REAL and talk about weather, shall we? First off, it's like what even is it? We live in a solar system (side note: It's a solar system because the entire SYSTEM we live in REVOLVES AROUND THE SUN. Solar means sun!  Ha!) where the weather changes. That is, the temperature and humidity and wind and rain and snow n' such is always in flux. Plus: Clouds! It's all a miracle and honestly something maybe we take for granted? Or maybe we don't! I don't know, we're all so different so who is anyone to say what anyone else is taking for granted. OTHER venues might not have this level of self awareness and compassion. Or DARE to open a marketing email talking about SYSTEMS we are living in. THAT'S The Dynasty Difference!™ Anyhoo, this is all to say that we're at the precipice of summer in Los Angeles (and apparently other places are on this precipice too!) and on overcast days like today it's commonplace to hear things from people like "Oh great, another cloudy day," or "When is it gonna be sunny every day again?," or "Sun, sun, me want sun!! Now! Me angry and me want sun!" And one of the two person team of VanJam that writes these weekly scrawls wants to promise all you SUN WORSHIPPERS that SUNNY DAYS ARE FOR SURE COMING. And guess what?? It will be really nice for a little bit! It'll be sunny and 75 and feel so good to be alive. ;) But THEN, as happens ever ding dang year, it's going to get REALLY hot. And if you're like us, we're gonna sweat a lot, and need to use a ton of sun block and the sun block always gets in your eyes and it hurts real bad. And mosquitos are biting all the time, so you have to put on mosquito spray, and the mosquito spray gets in your eyes and hurts real bad. And then, the very same people who complained about the cloudy days are now saying things like "Sun, sun, me NO want sun!!" while one of us looks at them like I TOLD YOU! THIS IS NOT GOOD!  (Note that the other member of VanJam disagrees with this sentiment and only likes the sun. But the member of VanJam expressing this wants to remind everyone that GUESS WHAT? THE SUN IS ALWAYS THERE. Even on grey days, above the clouds, shining brightly! ((Side note, from the other member of VanJam who’s in the draft, that’s a GROSS mischaracterization of my weather opinions! But I do find sunny days to be IMPORTANT for mental health. I love a random gray day, also for mental health. But my desires is really a MIX of days and weathers. I accept weather! I’d like to add that the OTHER member of VanJam HATES wind. Hates it!) So it's safe to say that it's always sunny! In Los Angeles! lol! And I also recognize that summer is when there are vacations and parties and nostalgia and outdoor activities and respects it and even enjoys it sometimes. And honestly feels better about it now. Maybe summer is pretty good. Ok, welcome summer. Let's have some fun! Merriam Webster, a dictionary/underrated game purveryor* defines a realm like so: 1. kingdom sense 3  2. sphere, domain within the realm of possibility  3. a primary marine or terrestrial biogeographic division of the earth's surface. We're not sure what "sense 3" means exactly (as it appears after kingdom above) but a google search for "sense 3" in the context of a dictionary led us to a Quora bot 🤖 that explained "Sense refers to specific interpretations or nuances of a word based on context." Never sure if we can take a bot, let alone a Quora bot 🤖, seriously, but it seems to make sense to us why kingdom would need this specification in this context. Not sure what the 3 means though. Like, is there a sense 1 or sense 2? Maybe we'll never know. Quora bot 🤖 can only tell us so much. Do you have a more reliable bot? Or do you just know? If so, tell us! (Is this email newsletter from a venue in Los Angeles you are currently reading already off the rails? No! It's ON RIGHT HERE! ON THE RAILS! OBVIOUSLY!) Ideally they are enchanting places to dwell, at least most of the time, surrounded by uplifting and magical characters. For us it can feel like this at times for which we are very grateful! But even as we continue to evolve, we are so often called back into the realm of our own overthinking, surrounded by angry and judgey characters. Which is why, in part, Dynasty exists. To escape all that!  ANYHOO this newsletter scrawl was all born from the fact that Vanessa went to The Renaissance Pleasure Faire this weekend with her family and Jamie had a nice weekend, including a lovely evening at the Marc Maron show here on Saturday and was re-enchanted as always by the theater, and we had a fun conversation this morning where we were reminding ourselves that we love nothing more than creating magical realms and how that is of course what Dynasty is and we want everyone that comes here to feel like they've entered an entirely different world that they find inspiring and leave feeling full of possibility and how we want to continue to expand the realm and create many more, within Dynasty's walls and inside other walls and structures and even amongst trees and also on audio and video platforms. We love platforms.  The third definition of realms is pretty neat too. It has the word TERRESTRIAL which makes us think of E.T.. We're obsessed with realms like that fool was obsessed with phones! Can you even imagine if E.T. came to Earth in 2025? That fool would be like "E.T. iPhone Home!" 😂 Other similar sized venue newsletters wouldn't DARE make an E.T. joke in 2025. We, in fact, DID have a special Sunday and many other special days surrounding it. The little joys of life feel like they’re waking up again after a long hibernation period. That’s the whole spring thing, maaaan. 🌺  … Is it a sign of our age that spring is really hitting us as a MAGNIFICENT PAGEANT this year? To watch plants go from literal dormancy into flowering and sprawling and calling to the pollinators who enthusiastically rise to the occasion. Buzzing! It’s real! The actual soundscape of gardens and the natural world! In a word: WOW.  It’s JAMie’s first spring in his current home and his first time witnessing the huge yard wake up. So much GREEN where before there was no GREEN! 💚 In a word: WOW. Last week VANessa came over and they identified plants (this yard is basically a natural apothecary! Witches, rise up! 👊 🧹) and made sticky willy tea with mint and henbit and calendula and sipped it together as they dreamed into the future of Dynasty and other things. Which is NOT something they would’ve done four years ago. That era was more of a dreaming into the future with diet coke and doritos in the dark vibe. That vibe still exists on occasion, but it’s nice to add some earthly texture to life. Absolutely NO SHADE to Doritos, whose texture is… celestial. ✨ The man who invented/appropriated Doritos for Frito-Lay was named Arch West. Which is the most Ansel Adam’s sounding name there e’re was. His parents maybe dreamed of him going into nature photography, but instead he went into CORNMEAL ALCHEMY and there ain’t nothing wrong with that. (A quick look into Mr. West shows he was also friends with Dave Pace, of Pace Picante sauce and other Pace foods. A friendship like this? In a word: WOW.) Sadly, it seems Dave Pace does not yet have a Wikipedia page. Will one of OUR Darlings rectify this? You guys, not to sound cheesy (queso-y?), but we have to BE the change we want to see in the world. 💕  Meanwhile, VANessa recently built a barrel pond in her backyard and is spending a lot of time staring into it and watching snails do their thang. (These slimy little hermaphrodites never met scum they didn’t want to full-body slurp!) The uptick of watching snails seems is happening at the same time as a plunge in her body producing collagen. Related? Who’s to say. A scientist probably!  And now, the never ending work of life: to discover that which brings joy and peace and laughter and then marry it with our personal, ever evolving PURPOSE. Woof! See our full calendar here →  Dearest Dynasty Darlings, So if you've been paying attention, we've (VanJam) been alluding to ✨ April 12th✨ in these newsies the past few weeks as ⏳ a line in the sand of time ⌛️ where, after what has been a particularly challenging year so far and several weeks of retrogrades and eclipses and full moons, everything ALIGNS and we all come into our power as humans. 🦂 Us Scorpios do, anyway. 🦂 But seemingly it's for everyone else too. 🙄 Just kidding, we totallly support emotional evolution for all! Of course, this is all according to astrology influencers on Instagram. Who, you know, contain all the grand wisdom of the universe. Well, it's the 14th of April now, and safe to say, IT FLARPIN' HAPPENED. There is no doubt that over here at Dynasty we are finally coming into our power! How do we know it? Well, for starters, one of us asked The Tarot Gods last night to give us a card that would portend what was coming this week in light of the astrological predictions and the card that was pulled: The Knight of Wands! ♞🪄 Which is basically like the universe saying "Get it, girl!!" In the Thoth deck, anyway. So that was uncanny. But if a tarot pull isn't convincing you or making your blood boil*, let us tell you about this weekend! On Saturday night, Dynasty produced a livestream for the Handsome podcast from Moontower Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas at The Bass Concert Hall! A sold out 2,900 person capacity and thousands more watching at home! It looked and sounded beautiful and Fortune, Tig, and Mae were of course as handsome and charming as ever. (FYI the livestream is still available!)  Meanwhile, Vanessa was with her family in Denver, Colorado, on a trip to visit the enchanting Casa Bonita! Don't know what Casa Bonita is? Look it up and watch this amazing documentary about it's recent re-opening. If ever there was a place that we needed to visit to do research and recon for our own enchanting pursuits at Dynasty and beyond, it is there. And it did not disappoint! Fun was had, notes were taken, and inspiration was bestowed. Note: when we have our own themed bar/restaurant it will take some cues but be like totally our own much weirder vibe. Finally, over at Dynasty, Jamie was hosting Dynasty Tonight! With Vanessa in Denver and Sam in Austin, it was up to Jamie to hold down the fort. With Vanessa's dog Herbert co-hosting (with the help of GM Missy's Herbert wrangling), a pared down trombone forward Dynasties, and an epic line-up, the fort was successfully held! The ✨ April 12th ✨ transformation was talked about throughout the show and by the end the entire audience was on it's feet (save for a group of 6 in the middle who Jamie absolved because, hey, standing just isn't for everyone) manifesting magic and success and peace and love for everyone there with the band punctuating the ceremonies and raising the vibration to the next level. It was silly and absurd and beautiful (and for 6 people it was possibly challenging), but hey, that's the human experience and we LOVE that over here. Don't worry, there's always enough self awareness at a Dynasty show to make positivity consumable by even the most cynical. We like to think. See our full calendar here →  Hello sweet Darlings,  April (or 🧚‍♀️ FAEpril as we are calling it here because FUN) is well underway, and we’re pleased as punchbowls to offer you a place to escape le reality which is increasingly… how do you say… “bad.” Our calendar offers a plethora of options to distract and delight. In a post-White Lotus, plummeting stock-market world, we KNOW you need them. We’ve been quite busy round here and now that DYLAN has been unsubscribed, we’re one burden lighter. We haven’t had too many more frustrating, enraging emails, except one man who replied to the DYLAN email with simply “oof.” We couldn’t tell which side of history he was on, so we didn’t reply. Perhaps it was an “oof” of sympathy, offering support for small businesses who take on the unnecessary weight of basically anonymous and unfounded criticism. Perhaps it was basically anonymous and unfounded criticisms! Whatever!  We’re certainly not going to let an ambiguous three letter reply occupy mental real estate. OOPS!  This spring, we’re wishing you well, and we’re wishing you WELLS. And while we’re at it, we’re wishing you springs. Access to natural water sources is a recurring mental theme for us, especially in times of uncertainty. Currently, JAM(ie) is enjoying the natural splendor of the central coast, and VAN(essa) is bracing for the unnatural splendor of civic duty and coming to terms with the reality she’s not getting backyard chickens any time soon. 😞 That’s a long story you want no involvement in, and has many pieces. Some of the pieces: 🧩 Really wanting some lil’ Malaysian chickens.  🧩 ring-camera footage of a cute huge raccoon that visits all the houses in her neighborhood.  🧩 A harrowing story someone told at a birthday party about a raccoon chicken-murder situation. Ok, those were basically the whole thing.  The price of eggs is still lower than the weight of this particular trauma.  Meanwhile, we’re attempting to keep breathing, keep evolving, and keep our hearts as open and soft as possible, whilst projecting a thorny, near-impenetrable exterior to scare off any potential aggressors. According to sages (several online astrology meme accounts) today is the last day of about four months of retrograde, so the times they have a CHANGED. Only 5 days until the day these accounts have told us our world will be totally different, so who knows what to expect for next weeks’ newsie. Maybe it will be a HoLoGrAm! Maybe Pyrjmÿrk will go from a figment of our imagination, to a figment of YOUR imagination, until the figment sprouts and Pyrjmÿrk lives amongst us, spreading their (now signature) optimism and hilariously anachronistic spellings with thee worlde. What do you think?! Over here, we're flarpin' sopping with excitment over it! But maybe it's just because we're coming off a big weekend of shows at Dynasty including our first Dynasty Tonight! in a couple months which was a fun, connective, magical experience where we got to play all night with some of our favorite comedians and improvise with The DyNasties and get to know the audience, and we got to end the show with an enchanting manifestation ceremony with an audience that was really there for it and down to start their week stepping into their vast powers. Or maybe it's because our GM Missy delivered her beautiful, hand made Sludgy (our plumbassador) puppet stage to the theater so that we can start bringing you all into Dynasty's magical world of puppets in the coming months! Or maybe it was Saturday night's solar eclipse 🌔, which according to the important astrology influencers in our Instagram feed was the long awaited turning of the tide of 14 years of intense personal work towards being more expressed, freer versions of ourselves! Or maybe it was last night's pull of the Princess of Wands from the Thoth tarot deck which suggests that all of our fears have been vanquished (YES!!!). Or maybe it's blind, delusional optimism in the face of impending apocalypse! lol Those are just some of our working theories. Are you maybe also asking yourself "What on earth IS the vaunted QUAD-D Salutation™?!" Don't worry, you are probably not alone. Because the vaunted QUAD-D Salutation™ was JUST invented. The brand new vaunted QUAD-D Salutation™ is when we use FOUR D's as the first letter in the salutation. In this case "Dearest Dazzling Dynasty Darlings." It's notable because it's FUN. And FUN is GREAT. "But why today?!" you ask yourself. Because it's St. Patrick's Day! And you know... FOUR LEAF CLOVERS ARE GOOD LUCK! ☘️ Or as we call them, QUAD-LEAF CLOHVERS. Why? Because it's FUN! And FUN is GREAT! "Why is there an H in your spelling of clovers?" Because it's ABSURD! And ABSURD is FUN! And FUN is GHREAT! Also, leprechauns are real. You read that correctly: leprechauns are real. How do we know?, you dare to ask. WE FEEL IT IN OUR BONES! Right around the marrow-zone, we FEEL it. Plus, we've seen ghost leprechauns at the theater. They're absolutelly bizarre. And boy oh boy, if they don’t get into some antics. They put regular creepy ghosts to shame with their absolute joie de mourir. (Like joie de vivre, but for the dead.) And if you’ve been wondering if leprechauns really pinch… we’ve got a real good-news/ouch-news situation. THEY DO. 😳 Right where you least expect it, but WHEN you most expect it.
